THE HEARING: WHO HOLDS THE ADVANTAGE
Class-writing and homework-submission update | 30 October 2026
Created by Yoav Duman

START
Open The_Hearing.html in a modern desktop browser. Graphics, all four historical case files, tables, cards, source records and logic are included. The core works offline; original-source links require internet and are optional verification. For class blocks pasting/text drops into text fields. Just for fun permits pasting. Built-in frames, ordinary typing, outbound copying and saved-work import remain available.

THE TASK
Name one action/rule/resource and the opportunity it affected. Distinguish observation from inference; test a common-uncertain-link competing account and use another case to test or bound the claim. It does not settle the total cause of a national election outcome or put unlike country measures on one scale.

Choose two different supporting cards and a separate complication with a reason. Name a short research target, build the actor/action/affected-option connection, attempt both source-use questions and record both reasoned decisions. Write a rival and distinguishing evidence request. Country target frames and rival/request stems are optional. Replace every bracketed instruction; unfinished frames stay To review. Existing writing is replaced only with confirmation.

Aim for 60-85 words in the main explanation; 50-120 is accepted for completion. Both selected support IDs, the complication and a source-relevant limit remain required. The comparison stays 30-45 words with a valid second-case card ID. Software checks inclusion, not the meaning or quality of writing. Board changes do not write prose. Both focused hearing questions remain required.

CONTEXT AND SOURCES
Essential office/holder/challenger/opportunity maps are visible. All 24 card faces show a supported point and its claim boundary. Full original card text, source metadata, original links and detailed qualifications remain accessible. Seeing face guidance does not record an original/source opening. The unresolved Malawi numerical discrepancy and uninspected-original-judgment caveat remain disclosed.

HANDING IN
Follow the teacher's assigned format. Print / Save as PDF opens the browser print dialog; select Save as PDF or Print to PDF if available, then upload the resulting PDF to Canvas. Copy grading summary provides a complete plain-text assessment summary for Canvas Text Entry. It also shows selected readonly text immediately for manual copying if automatic clipboard access waits or fails. It preserves exact current learner text and honest Draft/Complete status.

Full readable HTML and full plain-text records remain under Full readable copies and backup. The .json backup restores editable work in this game; it is not the readable grading copy. Finishing creates a local record and does not submit it to a teacher. Browser print/download behavior varies, so rehearse the chosen format on actual student devices.

SAVING AND OWNERSHIP
Autosave uses this browser/device when available. Storage can be cleared and behaves differently for local files; keep a backup and readable copy before closing. Case/mode switches preserve country drafts. New hearing asks before replacing the workspace. The game sends no responses to a server; files contain any entered name/notes. Old completion history stays as history if current requirements are missing. Casual users can save unfinished drafts; full completion retains the same analytical work.

Solo work needs its own browser/session for individual assessment. A shared pair record is labelled as shared; it is not two independent submissions. Partners can discuss, think privately and swap proposer/skeptic roles. Assign cases across the class.

GUIDE AND CURRENT REVIEW
The six-page facilitator guide supplies a 55-minute planning estimate, 50/60-minute adaptations, carryover/two-session option, calibration example and teacher observation sheet. Actual classroom timing and learning gains remain unmeasured.

Read Round4_Change_Record.txt for the current proposals, decisions and verification. Round4_Reviews contains the two focused AI expert reviews and source-grounded eight-limit proposals. Round4_Retests contains current engine results, sampled browser scope and document visual QA. 1843 assertions pass: 1247 new plus 596 prior. These are not human learning tests.

HISTORY AND OTHER MATERIAL
Case_Evidence.txt holds historical evidence; Case_Keys_and_Glossary.txt has updated context, targets, positive warrants, all limits and terms. Evidence_Source_Register.pdf and Source_Use_Clarifications.pdf preserve the source register and prior supplement.

First_Use_Review/First_Use_Reviews/Informed_Retests preserve ten first-use roles and checks. Round2_Review/Round2_Reviews/Round2_Retests/Review_Response_Register preserve twelve later reports. Round3_Learning_Review/Round3_Reviews/Round3_Retests/Round3_Response_Register preserve nine fresh perspectives and 70 dispositions. All roles are AI simulations, not actual students/faculty/creators. Older reports describe the version then reviewed; this update supersedes their old strict 60-85 gate. All original comments remain unchanged.
